History and Local Interest

We live in a very ancient landscape with plenty of evidence of Iron Age land works and Roman activity.  Since the Celts and Romans, the area has continued to develop its rich heritage, as a home for the Britons, an area contested by the Welsh princes of Powys and Brecheiniog and later the Normans.  More recently the Victorians developed the area for tourism with numerous spa towns and they use the region’s geography to develop ambitious projects such as the Elan Valley Dam.
